Arne has more than ten years private equity and M&A experience. Prior to joining Alteri, he was part of the European investment team of The Gores Group, a Los Angeles based private equity firm primarily focused on operationally driven transactions and carve-outs. During his time, he was involved in both new investments and transformation projects with existing portfolio companies. Previously, Arne worked as an M&A Analyst at Deutsche Bank in London where he executed a number of M&A and capital markets transactions.

Arnold Vos

Arnold Vos

Arnold has 15 years of private equity and M&A experience. Prior to joining Alteri in 2016, he was an Associate Director at Terra Firma with a main focus on leisure, retail and operational real estate businesses. During his 6 years there, Arnold worked very closely with the Wyevale Gardens Centres Group, serving a 12-month secondment as Head of Corporate Finance and Strategy. He has also held Non-Executive board positions on a number of portfolio companies. Prior to joining Terra Firma, Arnold had roles at Jamieson Corporate Finance and Credit Suisse. He holds a BSc in Mathematics and Economics from the TU Delft in the Netherlands.

Benedict Von Schmidt-Pauli

Prior to joining Alteri, Benedict was part of the financial restructuring group at Perella Weinberg in London where he worked on capital structure advisory and restructuring transactions. Previously, Benedict worked in restructuring advisory at PwC in Frankfurt. He holds an MSc in Finance from the University of Cologne.

Charlie Edwards

Charlie has more than 11 years of private equity investing experience. Prior to joining Alteri in 2021, Charlie spent 11 years at Caledonia Private Capital, the private equity arm of Caledonia Investments Plc, where he led a number of leveraged buy-outs into UK mid-market companies in a range of sectors including financial services, healthcare and leisure. Charlie began his career at KPMG where he qualified as a chartered accountant before moving into financial due diligence and restructuring advisory. Charlie has a BA in Modern History from the University of Oxford.

Prior to joining Alteri, Chris was part of the financial restructuring group at Houlihan Lokey in London where he worked on a number of restructurings across several sectors. Chris holds an MSc in Economics and Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics.

Dmitry Bejenar

Dmitry has almost 10 years of private equity and retail restructuring experience. Prior to joining Alteri in 2014 Dmitry was at GA Europe, where he worked on advisory transactions primarily focused on overstock clearance and store closures. With a deep understanding of underlying asset values, Dmitry is involved in all investment deal stages from due diligence and structuring through to completion. Dmitry also serves as a Board Observer on Alteri portfolio companies. He graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University with a degree in Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics and has an MBA from Cass Business School.

Fergus has 4 years of experience in private equity. Prior to joining Alteri, he was an Associate at EPIC Investment Partners where he worked on a number of buy-out and special situations transactions. Fergus has a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford.

Gavin George

Gavin has 30 years of experience in the retail sector – a financially qualified retail operator, turned consultant turned special situations investor. Prior to establishing Alteri Investors, he was CEO of GA Europe, completing more than 25 retail deals. Previously, he was an independent Chief Restructuring Officer for retail and consumer businesses and before that was Partner and Head of Retail at Ernst & Young UK. Gavin originally trained as a chartered accountant before working in retail operations at Dixons and then moving into retail consulting. Gavin is a member of both the European Association of Certified Turnaround Professionals (EACTP) and The Institute for Turnaround (IFT).

Before joining Alteri in 2023, Issy held the position of Marketing Executive at a clothing supplier & was responsible for sustainability, marketing and providing support to the executive team. Prior to this, Issy graduated from Nottingham Trent Universiry with a First Class Honours Degree in Business Management and Marketing. Issy has a strong interest in sustainability and has also held various roles in customer service and events management.

Jess started at Alteri as the team assistant before transitioning to the Office Manager/EA role. Prior to joining Alteri, Jess graduated from the University of Westminster with a First Class Honours in Business Management. Whilst at University she set up her own successful baking business. Jess has also held various roles as a Team Assistant across the real estate industry. 

Jonathan Foster

Jonathan has 15 years retail sector experience, principally in research, thought leadership and advisory. Prior to joining Alteri, he was at GA Europe playing a key role in deal generation. Previously, he was part of the retail advisory team at Ernst & Young, with a specific focus on assisting retailers to develop their international businesses. Jonathan has been a regular author of articles, surveys and points-of-view on issues impacting the retail sector. He has a BA in Modern Languages from Cardiff University.

Magnus Mattsson

Magnus has over 20 years of experience in the retail and consumer sectors, principally in private equity. Prior to joining Alteri as CIO in March 2015, he was Senior Principal in the Retail and Consumer team at Apax Partners. During his 11 years there he led or participated in €2.8bn of equity investments including fashion brand Tommy Hilfiger, Nordic garden centre chain Plantasjen, and shoes and bag manufacturer Cole Haan. Previously he worked for Procter & Gamble for 5 years across Europe and the US. Magnus holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Martin Bavinton

Martin has more than 20 years of experience in corporate law and M&A. Prior to joining Alteri, he was general counsel of private equity firm Oakley Capital where he covered funds, regulation, compliance and M&A. Prior to Oakley Capital, Martin spent 11 years at global law firm Ashurst LLP at its London and Madrid offices, where he advised on a broad range of private and public company transactions. Martin has a BA in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford and a Diploma in Law from the College of Law.

Siegfried Kobal

Siegfried has more than 15 years experience in retail operations. Prior to joining Alteri, he was Operations Director at a specialist US owned restructuring firm and has previously held roles at a number of high profile German retailers. These included 8 years at electricals retailer Promarkt as Cash Audit Leader and Head of Audit, and 3 years at one of the world’s largest retailers Metro Group as Stock Control Officer. He was also a Managing Director at catering firm Stacklies. Siegfried studied Mechanical Engineering in Klagenfurt, Austria and started his career in the Austrian Amy, serving a total of 7 years.
